On Wednesday, July 23, 2008, NCO Youth and Family Services stepped back to a much simpler time, when poodle skirts, drive-ins, and greased back hair were the in thing, as we celebrated our 18th Annual Dinner Auction. This year’s theme was “That Old Time Rock n’ Roll” and did we live up to the theme!! “It was great to look around the room and she how many of our guests dressed to our theme”, said Event Co-Chair Brenda Harter. “We could not have asked for the evening to go any better. It was exciting from the beginning to the end, no one wanted to leave after the Live Auction was over”!
Thanks to our guests, we raised $145,000 to fund our programs and services for youth and families throughout DuPage, Kendall and Will Counties, which was a record year!
The highlight of the evening was the live auction. Twelve items were up for bid including a trip to New York on a private jet during Fashion Week, 4 tickets to Los Angeles to see a taping of Two and a Half Men, a round of golf at Rich Harvest with the “punky” quarterback himself, Jim McMahon, and the chance to receive 3 separate private cooking lessons in your home from three of the finest chefs in Naperville. To top off the live auction we ended the evening with our annual “Raise the Paddle” that included a video about the need of NCO and the programs and services that are provided throughout the year. “When the video was over, it was amazing to see all the bid paddles that went up in the air to support NCO, said Event Co-Chair Barb Juckins, it was a very humbling experience, that will not be forgotten by those who attended this event”.
